Apple officially announced a new version of the iPhone SE today. The budget-friendly smartphone is given the simple name iPhone SE (2020). The new SE is slightly larger than the first SE, has the most powerful chipset and has an excellent camera. But the device will get a tiny screen for today’s standards with a tiny price tag for Apple standards. Is it the smart move we predicted or is this just a weird little device in the other luxury iPhones line-up?
iPhone SE 2020
Display & Design
The first iPhone SE appeared in 2016 and is arguably the most loved iPhone ever. That was due to its soft price, combined with excellent specs and handy design. The Apple iPhone SE indeed gets an iPhone 8-like design for a price comparable to that device. For a starting price of only € 489, you get a 4.7-inch LCD display, slightly larger than the 4-inch display of its predecessor. the SE 2020 version is slightly larger: 13 .8 x 6.7 x 0.7 centimeters. The resolution has also been slightly increased to a 720p resolution (HD).
Of course, Apple has introduced more innovation than just the case. Technically, the SE resembles the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. The device is equipped with a powerful Apple A13 Bionic chipset, the fastest smartphone processor on the market.
On the back, the iPhone SE comes with a single 12-megapixel camera and an aperture of ƒ / 1.8. So there is no ultra-wide angle or telephoto lens, which you will find in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. However, you do have a portrait mode and zoom functionality up to 5x, although the zooming is done digitally.
Apple calls the primary camera is “the best single-camera in an iPhone ever.” With the help of software-based tricks, you can take portrait photos of people with a single camera. The rear camera allows you to record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. At first it seems that the single-camera hardware hasn’t changed, but the A13 Bionic chip can use a lot smarter HDR. Unfortunately, there is no night mode setting on the camera.
On the front is a selfie camera with a resolution of 7 megapixels and ƒ / 2.2 aperture. Unlike the iPhone 8, it is suitable for portrait photos of people at the front. You can also use the six-effect portrait exposure on this unit. Another improvement over the iPhone 8: you can record video sound in stereo and can use both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. Unfortunately, the selfie camera has a lower resolution than the iPhone 11.
Apple also does not disclose how big the battery is, but according to Apple, the battery of the iPhone SE lasts a long time; you watch no less than 13 hours of film with one charge. The small screen makes that the small battery is theoretically sufficient. Furthermore, the back consists of glass, just like the iPhone 8, so you can also charge the SE wirelessly. The SE also supports fast charging.
On the outside, the SE looks outdated and is a copy of the iPhone 8. It is the successor of the iPhone 8. This is the new affordable 4.7-inch iPhone with a home button and Touch ID. So you still unlock the iPhone with a fingerprint scanner, instead of face recognition.
Other things to know are that the new iPhone SE supports Wi-Fi 6 and 4G. This ensures that you can surf in the fastest possible way on both Wi-Fi and 4G. The SE also has a rating of an IP67 certification, which makes it waterproof.
iPhone SE Specification
In terms of specifications, the new iPhone SE is a combination between the iPhone 8 and iPhone 11. The size and screen are the same as the iPhone 8, but the chip inside is the same as the iPhone 11 series. These are the main iPhone SE specifications:

The iPhone SE 2020 appears in three different colors: red, white and black. It is striking that the white version now also has a black front.

The best thing about the iPhone SE 2020 is its price. With its nice price-quality ratio, the new SE has everything in our opinion to become the most popular iPhone. It is especially an ideal device for those who now have an iPhone 7 or iPhone 6s (or older) and would like to upgrade.
