HONOR 8S Prime announced in Europe, Huawei entry-level smartphone with Helio A22

Huawei releases an entry-level smartphone, HONOR 8S Prime. The Chinese manufacturer has released the 5.71-inch smartphone of the honor brand in Europe.

HONOR 8S Prime has a 5.71 inch LCD screen with HD+ (1520 × 720) display. The phone powered by MediaTek Helio A22 MT6761chipset.

Helio A22 more powerful than SD429?

MediaTek Helio A22 is claimed to provide a very reliable mainstream smartphone platform, which uses a 12nm fabrication process. The Helio A22 also paired a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 up to 2.0GHz with a GE PowerVR IMG GPU. So, CPU and GPU performance promises to reach 30 percent faster than competitors in its class.

MediaTek has been known as a low-cost chipset manufacturer for lower-middle-class smartphones. The Helio A22 chipset is not new. Mediatek released this chipset in 2018.

The Taiwanese manufacturer released the first chipset from the “A” series, namely “Helio A22” as a competitor to Snapdragon 429. MediaTek has used a 12 nm architecture in the Helio A22 fabrication, so it is claimed to be more power-efficient.

Huawei upgrades the storage in the honor 8S model, from 32GB to 64GB. It has a small notch display with a waterdrop style. The model features a very low price, face recognition, a micro USB connection port, and a headphone jack.

There is a main camera with a 13-megapixel camera. Also, a 5-megapixel single front camera for selfie. There was no upgrade in the camera sector.

Released in Russia in May 2020, the price is about $129 (8,990 RUB).
