The Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already made a prediction for future Huawei phones for the second time. With the announcement about the P40 Pro + a few months ago he was right. For the Mate 40 camera, he expects that Huawei is planning a new lens for the Huawei Mate series, a so-called free-form camera lens.
He predicted the Mate 40 series will use a freeform camera lens for the first time. An upgrade for the ultra-wide-angle cine lens that Huawei uses in the Mate 30 Pro and now also in the P40 Pro.
Huawei Mate 40 with Free-form Camera Lens
The purpose of this lens is mainly to improve the wide-angle shots. Kuo assumes that competitors will not be able to copy this lens as quickly. Huawei has secured it with many patents (and wants to use it exclusively).
The main camera upgrade is usually always available with the P-series, but Huawei has shown in recent years that the Mate series does not rest and that the P-model camera is more optimized. For example, last year there was a new sensor for better video recording in the Mate 30 Pro.
More details about this “free-form lens” are still pending, but it’s still a bit early for rumors. There will probably be more details in the summer – however, Ming-Chi Kuo is a very reliable source.
Huawei Mate 40 Pro : better performance with Kirin 1020 SoC.
The Kirin 1020 SoC expected to mass-produced at TSMC in early August. The Kirin 1020 is the first SoC to use the 5nm production process. The most recent was the 7nm SoC, which widely used for flagship and premium brand smartphones.
What is the greatness of Kirin 1020 with this 5nm production process?. One of them has a performance of 50% faster than the Kirin 990 used in the P40 series. And also consumption that is 30% more efficient than its predecessor. The Kirin 1020 was prepared specifically for the premium class product line. Kirin 1020 is based on the latest ARM Cortex-A78 architecture – but there is a debate here, considering that the Cortex-A78 has not yet been released. So there is speculation, which will use is Cortex-A77.
Huawei presented Mate 30 Pro in Munich in September. So the Mate 40 Pro should also follow at the end of the summer or fall. If nothing changes in the current situation with the US embargo, this Huawei smartphone will also appear without the Google applications.
