The Motorola Edge has a  6.7-inch OLED screen with edges that bend almost 90 degrees around both sides of the device. This makes it possible to interact with the device via the edges of the screen. Furthermore, there is support for HDR and the refresh rate of the display at 90 fps, which should ensure smooth-looking animations.

Motorola Edge support 5G

Thanks to the 5G support, you can connect the Motorola Edge to sub-6 GHz networks. Under the hood we find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765, as well as 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner, but the device can also be unlocked via facial recognition with the selfie camera.

The phone also has a traditional 3.5 mm jack to which headphones can be connected. In addition, Motorola is strongly committed to the audio. Marketing manager Harold de Kort says that the Motorola Edge has the “most powerful speakers ever in a smartphone”. The audio tuning technology comes from Waves, who received a Technical Grammy Award. Making music, videos, and phone calls sound louder and clearer than ever.

Edge Touch, part of the My UX software, enables new interaction possibilities. Users can swipe up and down from the edge to see notifications or switch apps. In addition, the edges light up to show battery charging status, incoming calls, alarms, and notifications. In the new Moto Game Time, gamers can turn the phone sideways to access two additional customizable buttons on the top edge.

The phone has 6 GB of memory, 128 GB of storage, and a 4500 mAh battery. The 4,500mAh battery provides enough power to use the phone for up to two days without charging. That battery can charge with an included 18W adapter. With TurboPower (charging technology) you can ensure that your phone can last for hours within minutes.

On the back of the phone, the Motorola Edge has a triple camera setup. The main camera has 64 megapixels. With Quad Pixel technology, this sensor has 4x the light sensitivity to take clear and sharp photos in all kinds of lighting conditions. The Edge has high-resolution optical zoom on the 8-megapixel telephoto lens, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. And Macro Vision, bringing you 5x closer to the object through the close-up shots. The selfie camera on the front has a resolution of 25 megapixels.

Price and availability

The new Edge may be an alternative to phones like the OnePlus. For years, these were the cheaper alternative to flagships from Apple and Samsung, but this year OnePlus screwed up the price. Motorola will sell its phone for 599 euros from June.

In the United States, Motorola also unveiled the Edge +, with a price tag of 999 euros, a stronger processor, a larger battery, and three cameras on the back. However, it is exclusively offered by the provider Verizon.
